Note: The truck driver must be able to SEE your bins from the road. They do not necessarily have to be placed at the curb unless there is foliage obstructing the view of the entire driveway. It must be outside your garage in the front of your home.
Recyclable Paper Products in One Bin: • Newspapers (inside a brown bag is best!) • Office paper, envelopes, junk mail • Telephone books • Brown paper bags • Cardboard milk or juice cartons • Cereal and food boxes (flattened) • Pizza, soda and beer boxes (flattened) • Corrugated cardboard (flattened, not larger than 2’ x 3’) • Shredded paper in a BROWN PAPER bag (not a plastic bag) Metal, Glass and Plastics in One bin: • Plastic marked with recycle symbol 1-7 • All glass containers • Steel and aluminum • Aluminum foil, pie plates, trays • Juice or milk containers (plastic, glass) • Aerosol cans (no hazardous waste - check label) NOTE: Please lightly rinse containers. No need to remove labels.
Do NOT include: • Shoe boxes, paper towel or toilet paper rolls, oatmeal containers which are manufactured with glue • Plastic bags (return them to grocery stores) • Styrofoam “peanuts” used for packing (take to a shipping store to be reused)
Landfill and Convenience Centers Indian River County Solid Waste offers the opportunity to bring other items, in addition to anything approved for recycling into one of the two bins above, to a Convenience Center or to the landfill. • Tires from small automobiles (maximum 2) • Batteries (household and auto) • Scrap metal • White Styrofoam only
