Household, Yard Waste and Recycling Information
The Town of Indian River Shores has a franchise agreement with Treasure Coast Refuse for removal of household and yard waste, as well as recycling.
Household waste is picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays for all neighborhoods.
Yard wasteis picked up on Wednesday with the exception of John's Island, Ocean Pearl, The Estuary and The Shores (these neighborhoods do not subscribe to this service).
Brush is to be placed curbside and not mixed with garbage
Brush must be bundled and tied or taped, no more than 4' long or over 50 pounds (except palm fronds)
Tree limbs must be less than 4" in diameter
Yard trash (e.g., leaves) must be placed in reusable containers. NO PLASTIC BAGS accepted; however, brown yard waste bags purchased from home improvement stores are allowable.
Residents may take their own yard waste to a County Landfill with no fee for anything under 4" diameter. It is also the place for anything formerly attached to your home (construction debris), such as cabinets, carpet, toilets, windows, glass, wallboard, etc.
Hazardous waste (cell phone batteries, oil based paint, items containing mercuiry, flourescent bulbs and "sharps") may be disposed of during normal operating hours at any of the Convenience Centers (Roseland, Winter Beach, Gifford, Old Dixie at First Place, or Fellsmere).

Recycling service is provided on Tuesdays in all neighborhoods, some weekly and some biweekly, based on individual contracts with Treasure Coast Refuse. Residents of Indian River Shores who are in need of an additional or replacement blue bin may request one at the Town's Public Safety Department on Fred Tuerk Drive.
Please remember to:
Place your rinsed out containers, aerosol cans and aluminum foil products in one blue bin
Place your "dry" recyclables, such as newspapers, catalogs, magazines, phone books, pizza boxes, soda or beer cartons in the other blue bin
Have your bin in plain sight by the truck driver before 7 a.m. on your collection day, and remove it from the curb by dusk

Recycling Shredded Paper. Did you know you can put your shredded paper in a CLEAR plastic bag with your other recycle paper for curbside pickup? Bags are available where paper shredders are sold.
