The Town of Indian River Shores participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS).  This program is beneficial in keeping your homeowner insurance rates as low as possible.  The 2016 annual report for CRS is here.

Flood Risk Open House is scheduled for March 21, 2018 from 4-7 pm at Sebastian River High School Cafeteria.  FEMA will explain how and why the local risk of flooding has changed, how the preliminary new Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) has changed and steps you can take to protect your home from extensive damage often caused by flooding.  The 90-day appeal process begins about a month after this open house, which is followed by another 6-month adoption/compliance period.  Please see the FEMA website for the preliminary maps.  The Town maps are in 0232J, 0234J, 0242J, 0235J, and 0261J.  Or you may find them on this website through this separate page.

This page provides easy links to local and national FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) information.  FEMA is part of the Department of Homeland Security, and is responsible for oversight of the NFIP.
